Bio

Patricia J.M. Van Wijngaarden-Cremers MD, PhD, is senior consultant psychiatrist who specialises in Gender, Developmental Disorders and Addiction at Dimence, a large Mental Health Facility in the Netherlands. She started a country-wide network for psychiatrist and other mental health professionals treating adults with ADHD , Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and addiction.

Bio

Dr. Parul Mathur is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Amaha, with specialised training from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), India. In her six years of clinical experience, she has conducted workshops on gender-based violence and digital learning, and presented her work on GBV at the IAWMH 9th World Congress (2022).

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is often misunderstood and underdiagnosed in girls and women, leading to unique challenges in their lives. This workshop aims to provide a better understanding of ADHD in girls/women in order to improve recognition, perform appropriate assessments and treatment thus helping change outcomes in women with ADHD.

Bio

Dr. Soumya Parameshwaran is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Amaha Health care Bengaluru. Dr Soumya has completed her Diploma in Psychiatry and Diplomate National Board (DNB) in Psychiatry from National Institute of Mental health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) and Kasturba medical college, Mangalore.

Learning objectives:

1.    Participants will gain insights into various presentations of ADHD seen in women across lifespan 
2.    Understand consequences of missed diagnosis and mis-diagnosis.
3.    Training in assessments used to diagnose ADHD in women. 
4.    Strategies for managing ADHD, including lifestyle adjustments, therapeutic interventions, and medication options in general and special populations (pregnancy, lactation) in women. 

Eligibility

  1. Should be a qualified Mental Health Professional (MHP)

  2. Clinicians with Minimum 2 years of experience in their field (Psychiatry, Clinical psychology and psychiatric social work)

  3. Students and Academics: Enrolled in PhD (social sciences related to mental health) or MD in psychiatry.

  4. Teaching Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellows: Working in mental health or related fields.
