What to Expect When You Arrive in Bangalore

Here’s a handy guide to make your arrival and stay as seamless as possible

Getting from the Airport to the City

Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) is located about 40 kilometers/ 24 miles from the city center. The conference venue and your accommodation will be around 5 kilometers/ 3 miles from the city centre. Here are your transportation options:

Airport Taxi Services:

  • Official airport taxis are readily available outside the arrival terminal. Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) Airport Taxis are usually very reliable. Ask the airport staff to direct you to the queue just outside the exit gates of the building. 

  • You will find booking stations for private operators before you exit the airport building. These are also an option. They will be more expensive than the Airport Taxi. 

  • Fares are typically metered, with additional charges for tolls

Conference-Organized Taxi Services: To simplify your travel, we offer pre-arranged taxi bookings. Our transport partners will meet you outside the airport building exit gates with a placard with your name on it.  Click here for more details. 

Weather in March

Bangalore enjoys a pleasant climate in March, with daytime temperatures ranging between 20°C and 32°C (68°F to 89°F). Evenings may be cool, so it’s advisable to carry a light jacket. 

Pro tips:

  • Carry sunglasses and sunscreen for daytime excursions.

  • A small umbrella might be handy, though rain is usually minimal this time of year.

What to Wear

March in Bangalore calls for light, comfortable clothing.

  • Daytime: Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton or linen to stay cool. The conference is indoors and is in an air-conditioned venue. 

  • Evenings: A light wrap will suffice for outdoor activities.

  • Cultural Etiquette: While Bangalore is cosmopolitan, modest attire is always appreciated, especially if you plan to visit temples or traditional areas.
